Trewithen held the opening ceremony of the 25th ICS Congress. 230 delegates gathered from 20 countries to see the garden and its collection of the genus. highlights being camellia x williamsii 'Donation', the two Kunming reticulata's, 'Lion Head' and 'Nobel pearl, Camellia x williamsii 'Glen's Orbit' plus feature like the camellia walk and the mature species throughout the garden.

Greg Davis, President of the ICS, commented on the visit "We have always been jealous of your English gardens but Trewithen is the greatest place we have seen."
