International Camellia Congress
Trewithen held the opening ceremony of the 25th ICS Congress. 224 delegates from more than 20 different countries attended this event which takes place every 18 to 24 months. Professor Gao Jiyin from China, bought with him some camellia seeds that have been collected from the wild. These will include C.nitidissima, a true yellow flowered camellia which flowers here during the summer - meaning Trewithen will have a camellia in blossom every month of the year. Find out more... |

Entertainment for Trewithen visitors
The fabulous sounds, performed on the lawn outside the tea rooms - between an enormous Monkey Puzzle tree and a blossoming Magnolia - were complemented by the sudden burst of spring sunshine.Although the music could be heard across the estate, which is famed throughout the world for its mature woodland, camellia and magnolia, hundreds of people were drawn to the lawn to enjoy the two-hour concert.

Cornwall’s first rose garden
Trewithen's head gardener, Gary Long and rose expert, Stewart Pocock, owner of the Cornish Rose Company, have planted thousands of roses for a spectacular show of colour and scent this summer. The beds are being laid out in the shape of a traditional Celtic cross with a water feature at the centre, it will be the first dedicated rose garden open to the public in Cornwall dispelling the myth that roses can't grow in the mild Cornish climate.
