Plant of the month, April 2023

For March I asked the question “How do you choose a plant of the month?”

What criteria do you set as a standard? Is it just personal choice or is it if a particular plant is garden worthy or is it just a plant that is performing well?

With those things considered I just pick one I like!

This month I have chosen Rhododendron ‘Trewithen Purple’.

A small hybrid raised here at Trewithen. It has small, scented, evergreen leaves and is smothered in purple flowers during April and into May.

The perfect Rhododendron either as an under planting in larger gardens or in a mixed border. Its suitable for the smaller garden as well. If you have just one Rhododendron (who would have just one?) then this is for you.
