Volunteer

At Trewithen, volunteering is a symbiotic relationship. The time and effort our volunteers contribute is crucial to our overall health, while for those who join us, it’s a hugely rewarding experience.

We’re happy to admit that a lot of what we do is only made possible by our dedicated volunteers. Maintaining gardens like ours takes work, and we’re always grateful for an extra pair of helping hands. And of course, this works both ways: the experience our volunteers gain is often the springboard they need to a rewarding career.

In the past, our volunteers have been offered jobs at other Cornish gardens, students have furthered their training at university (and even at Kew Gardens), and some have gone on to start their own horticulture businesses.

Voluntary placements

Take the opportunity to grow your practical experience, working alongside our Head Gardener Gary Long and his team. With a placement at Trewithen, you’ll learn horticultural techniques within one of Cornwall’s great historic gardens.

Placements can be adapted to suit a wide range of requirements – whether you’re a student seeking experience, considering a career change, or simply hoping to be out in the fresh air.

If you’d like to know more, please contact Gary Long on 01726 883647 or email gary@trewithengardens.co.uk.
