Friday 15th May: Caring for Dahlias

Join us for a late spring workshop focused on the early care and cultivation of dahlias.

This session will explore how to get dahlias off to the best possible start, from selecting and potting up tubers to planting out and establishing strong, healthy plants. Guided by Kirsty – the grower and florist behind Trewithen Cut Flowers – you’ll learn the key steps to setting your dahlias up for a productive flowering season ahead.

Through demonstration and practical guidance, Kirsty will share her approach to soil preparation, spacing, and early care. She’ll also touch on planning for cut flower production and how to maximise blooms later in the season.

Whether you’re completely new to dahlia growing, or looking to refine your approach, this workshop offers a relaxed and informative space to learn.

The workshop will take place in the gardens on 11th April from 10am until 12pm.

Wednesday 17th June: Willow Flower Weaving

In this hands-on workshop, talented local weaver Jasmine Fassenfelt, will teach the art of shaping and weaving beautiful, lasting flowers out of sustainably grown willow rod.

With step-by-step guidance in the relaxed, peaceful setting of the gardens, it’s a wonderful opportunity to try a traditional craft and leave with your own handcrafted willow blooms.

All tools and materials will be provided, and drinks, cake, and lunch can be purchased from Da Bara in the gardens. Depending on weather, this workshop will either take place outside in the gardens, or in our covered workshop space.

Please note that this workshop isn't suitable for under 16 year olds due to the fiddly nature of weaving, and those who suffer from joint pain or injury in their hands may struggle. If you have any doubts or concerns please get in touch with Jasmine on 07506554872.

Saturday 20th June: Summer Blossoms Flower Arranging

Join us for an early summer flower arranging workshop inspired by the abundance and freshness of the season.

This session will focus on creating natural, garden-gathered arrangements using a beautiful mix of cut flowers and garden foliage. Guided by Kirsty – the grower and florist behind Trewithen Cut Flowers – you’ll learn how to combine colour, texture and form to create relaxed, seasonal arrangements.

Through demonstration and hands-on guidance, Kirsty will share her approach to selecting stems, building shape and structure, and achieving a balanced, effortless look. She’ll also offer tips on making the most of what’s in season and extending the vase life of your arrangements.

Whether you’re completely new to flower arranging or looking to refine your style, this workshop offers a welcoming and creative space to learn and experiment.

The workshop will take place in the gardens from 10am until 12pm.

Friday 17th July: Scents of Summer Flower Arranging

Join us at Trewithen for a summer flower arranging workshop celebrating the height of the cutting garden.

This session will make the most of the season’s abundance, with a rich mix of vibrant scented blooms, soft textures and garden foliage freshly gathered on the day. Guided by Kirsty – the grower and florist behind Trewithen Cut Flowers – you’ll learn how to create relaxed, generous arrangements that capture the colour and scents of midsummer.

Through hands-on guidance, Kirsty will share her approach to selecting standout stems, balancing colour palettes, and building natural, flowing shapes. She’ll also cover practical techniques for conditioning flowers in warm weather and keeping arrangements looking their best for as long as possible.

Whether you’re new to arranging or looking to develop your style, this workshop offers a creative and inspiring way to work with the very best of the summer garden.

Thursday 6th August: Willow Dragonflies and Swallows Weaving 

In this creative willow workshop, you’ll learn how to weave your own elegant dragonfly and swallow, perfect hung or placed in the garden or home. Talented local artist and weaver, Jasmine Fassenfelt, will guide you through her process, from start to finish.

With step-by-step guidance, you’ll bend, weave, and shape the willow to bring these graceful forms to life.

The session is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to enjoy a few mindful hours crafting unique, nature-inspired pieces using sustainably grown willow to take home with them.

Guided by Kirsty – the grower and florist behind Trewithen Cut Flowers – you’ll explore a more expressive, seasonal approach to arranging, inspired by what is at its very best on the day.

Through a demonstration and hands-on guidance, Kirsty will share techniques for creating looser, more sculptural arrangements, playing with movement, height and texture. There will also be a focus on cutting with intention, selecting standout stems, and composing arrangements that feel natural and unique.

Perfect for both returning participants and those joining for the first time, this workshop offers a relaxed and creative space to deepen your skills and confidence.

Part of our seasonal cut flower workshop series, this session invites you to experience the gardens from a different perspective during the summer peak, and to take home a beautiful seasonal arrangement.

Join us for an autumn wreath making workshop inspired by the rich tones and textures of the season.

This session will focus on creating a natural, garden-inspired wreath using a beautiful mix of autumn foliage, seed heads and dried foliage. Guided by Kirsty – the grower and florist behind Trewithen Cut Flowers – you’ll learn how to work with the season's highlights to create a characterful wreath.

Through demonstration and hands-on guidance, Kirsty will share her approach to shaping and layering textures, as well as offering tips on foraging, drying and preserving materials to use beyond the autumn months.

Whether you’re completely new to wreath making or looking to refine your style, this workshop offers a welcoming and creative space to learn, and to take home a beautiful seasonal wreath.
