First Magnolia flower of the year.
Every year our fist Magnolia tree to flower is the one near the Cock Pit area of the garden.
The Magnolia tree above the cock pit is a seedling of the huge Magnolia campbellii subsp.mollicomata on the main lawn. Every year its our first Asiactic Magnolia to flower. Gary Long , Head Gardener, has recorded the first flowering date every year since 2004. Its average flowering time is usually the third week of January but has been as early as January 2nd back in 2016 and as late as March 8th in 2010
High up in the canopy is our first Magnolia flower of 2026, despite the weather!
