Camellia saluenensis 'Trewithen Red' was found here at the gardens in the 1970's and had the nickname of Camellia 'Trewithen dark form' before it was taken to the RHS flower show in London and renamed what it is today. More a deep pink than a "Red" but Camellia saluenensis has light baby pink flowers, see photo below, so this is a real "dark" colour of it.
The plant has a compact, graceful weeping habit
