Rhododendron nuttallii is one of those plants you just can't wait for each year. The new foliage emerges late spring and can have a deep metallic purple sheen to it fading to a deep bronze colour before greening up. Followed by huge creamy white, scented, trumpet-like flowers. It is a tender species so best grown in a frost free environment or Cornwall....
