Unveiling the charming tale of a pink camellia.
Plant of the month for January is Camellia x williamsii ‘Hi-lo’
This lovely semi double pink camellia first arrived at Trewithen under the propagation number HJ-10.
After planting in the garden and then propagating stock was available for sale in our plant centre.
The entry in our catalogue that year, 1986, misspelt the name HJ-10 and was printed as ‘Hilo’!
Thus from that day forward it is now known in the Camellia world as Camellia x williamsii ‘Hilo’ A Trewithen named hybrid although by accident!
